Karunai Deivame Karpagame!!

This time , I wanted to write the lyrics of a carnatic song and first comes the ragam " Sindhu Bhairavi".When it is the carnatic song, it is always my mom who introduces the songs to me. This is one of my mom's masterpiece. I sometimes gets tears , when she renders the charanam especially.

As this is the Navarathri Time, I wanted to add a Tamil song dedicated to the deity Karpagambal.

Now on to the details of the ragam :
Sindhu Bhairavi is the janyam of the 10th Melakartha Ragam Natakapriya.

As a small intro to melakartha and janya ragams, melakartha ragams/thai ragams has complete seven swarams of the octave in both Aarohanam /Avarohanam. That is why they are called as sampoorna ragams.

  5. This song is my all-time favorite! Tears of joy flowed from my eyes, as I listened it sung by one Ms. Meenakshi Karthik on the 7th day, Monday I think, of Navarathri at Sri Sai Shiva Vishnu temple, Hopper's Crossing, Melbourne (Australia).
